Qufaro addresses the need for a broader choice of qualifications to fulfil the skills gap in the cybersecurity professions and meet the demands of employers by providing employers and students with access to a range of cybersecurity educational courses.

In 2016, Qufaro launched the UK’s first and only Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) in Cybersecurity and 150 students have graduated to date. Developed by a consortium of education and cybersecurity partners, the CyberEPQ provides an excellent foundation point for anyone considering a career in cybersecurity.

Taught using distance learning tools, the qualification’s content is guided by the National Occupational Standards in cybersecurity. Certified by City & Guilds, the EPQ is equivalent to half an A-Level, counting for up to 28 UCAS credits in university applications.

Graduates are awarded membership of a newly created category of the Institute of Information Security Professionals (IISP). Sponsored by Deloitte, students that successfully completed the course in 2017/18 also had their fees reimbursed.

In 2018, Qufaro announced the launch of a new Level 4 cybersecurity apprenticeship and its intention to introduce a Level 3 apprenticeship in the near future. To form the new Level 3 apprenticeship standard, Qufaro is sponsoring a trailblazer group consisting of a wide spectrum of employers including many blue-chip companies.

The level three standard will also inform the standards for a future T level, a new type of two-year course designed with employers, to give young people the skills that industry needs. From 2020, T levels will provide a technical alternative to A levels and include an industry placement of at least 45 days in their chosen occupation.

Qufaro is committed to finding and developing talented individuals who are looking to move into the cyber profession, providing the required support to enable them to enter university, apprenticeships and employment by helping them to gain a breadth and depth of specialist cyber knowledge that will make them attractive recruits.

Qufaro believes it is essential that more people entering the workforce do so knowing how to identify and protect themselves, and the organisations they work for, from the real, online threats that are growing every day.
